The Evergreen State Fair Park is excited to welcome the public back for the 2024 Evergreen State Fair, starting August 22! The fair is back this year with new and returning food and commercial vendors, carnival rides, animal barns, displays and exhibits, entertainment, beer gardens, and more.
This year’s Evergreen State Fair theme is a nod to all things summer. “Bright Lights, Summer Nights” embodies everything that makes summer one of the best times of the year. From the anticipation of the rising lights above a concert stage, to a stroll with friends down the vibrantly lit midway, to catching the sunset or fireworks show from the top of the Ferris wheel with someone special, these moments are magical
You can preview fair attractions, pre-order tickets and wristbands, and learn more about this year’s festivities at www.evergreenfair.org.
Snohomish County is accepting applications for new service agreements with community partners for projects or events focused on addressing the drug crisis.
A total of $72,200 is available and organizations can apply for up to $7,500 apiece. Funding is available to organizations that provide services for Snohomish County residents experiencing opioid use disorder. Priority will be given to organizations that provide recovery focused services
This is the second round of funding applications this year. If your organization previously applied, you may apply again but must submit a new application. All nonprofit, non-governmental agencies working in recovery in Snohomish County are eligible for these funds. The County allocated the first half in April of this year to 11 organizations. The County is using money received from the OneWashington Memorandum of Understanding (opioid settlement) for these agreements.
More information and an online application are available at https://snohomishoverdoseprevention.com/community-opioid-funding-request/.
We need your help with a first-ever survey to gauge just how ready Snohomish County residents and businesses are to live safely with rising wildfire risks. The online wildfire survey takes just minutes to complete. Results will provide a snapshot of the area’s level of preparedness and help to shape a countywide Community Wildfire Protection Plan.
A team at the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management is coordinating a two-year planning effort to comprehensively examine wildfire protection needs and strategies. Key partners include area firefighters, state and federal agencies, local tribes, nonprofits, residents and landowners.
You can take the survey at https://bit.ly/snoco_wildfire_survey. It will remain open into November.

Executive Somers joined U.S. Representative Rick Larsen, Paine Field Airport Director Joshua W. Marcy, members of the Friends of Narbeck, and staff members of Snohomish County Parks and Paine Field Airport on Wednesday, July 31, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the opening and dedication of Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary.
Paine Field Airport pioneered the establishment of the first two Wetland Compensation Banks in the state of Washington back in 1999: Swanson and Narbeck. These banks facilitated safety improvements on the airfield and will aid in future airport development. The project set a standard for balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship.
The success of Narbeck has led to the creation of 20 wetland mitigation banks across the state. These banks play a crucial role in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary provides a passive recreational opportunity for thousands of people who live and work in the area. There are two walking trails, a small loop trail and and a 1.5- mile interpretative trail around the perimeter, with educational signs and self-guided tours.
