Flooding along multiple rivers has caused a state of emergency in Snohomish County, with ongoing impacts to roads and transportation, emergency services, and private and public properties. In response, Executive Somers issued an emergency proclamation Wednesday evening.
“Many families, businesses, and communities have been impacted by the floods this week and more rain continues to fall,” said Executive Somers. “Therefore, I’ve declared an emergency to ensure we have every tool available to us. For cities and other agencies who have responded to the flooding, please know that we will be there to assist in any way we can. We’ll get through this together.”
Snohomish County Emergency Management launched an online survey to gather information about damage to homes, businesses, and farms in Snohomish County. The data will help emergency managers to better understand where problems are concentrated and to make the case for recovery resources, including possible assistance and future mitigation projects. A new clinic dedicated to low-barrier testing, treatment, and prevention services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) officially opened Friday, December 1, at the Snohomish County Health Department. The clinic, at 3020 Rucker Avenue in Everett, adds crucial services:
- Testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, as well as both rapid testing and blood draws for HIV.
- Treatment options available for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis for individuals and their partners.
This expands on the Health Department’s existing STI program, which has been providing HIV testing, sexual health education, partner counseling, and referrals for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
“I’m particularly grateful, thankful, and understanding of the importance of the services that you provide to the public and to communities that otherwise would not have access,” said Executive Somers. “The opening today of these direct services is really a day to celebrate here in Snohomish County, and I’m very, very excited.”
Appointments are strongly encouraged but not required for the new clinic. Walk-ins will be seen as time allows. For more information, please visit www.snohd.org/STIClinic.
