The best time to prepare for a flood is before one happens. That’s why multiple Snohomish County departments prepared information and tools to assist residents with flood resilience, response and recovery.
Some important flood preparedness tools include:
-
Annual Flood Safety Guide – This guide provides information on a wide range of flood-related topics, such as researching your property’s flood risk, protecting your home from flooding, preparing for a flood, what to do in the event of a flood, and steps to recover from a flood.
- Clogged Drains or Culverts – Call Road Maintenance at 425-388-7500 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. To report emergencies or flooding issues outside of these hours, call 911.
-
SnoCoAlerts – Register to receive emergency alerts delivered right to your smart phone during disasters.
-
Snohomish County Public Safety Hub – Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management uses this one-stop resource to share emergency information, including real-time guidance, maps, and flood forecasts.

Multiple locations in Snohomish County provide overnight shelter during dangerously cold weather. Cold Weather Shelters are operated by community-based organizations, volunteer groups, and communities of faith across Snohomish County.
Cold Weather Shelters typically open when overnight temperatures are expected to be 34 degrees F or lower. The cold weather season usually begins in November and lasts through March of the following year.
We are also looking for volunteers to help people come in from the cold. If you’re interested, you can sign up for a volunteer training here: http://bit.ly/498QpyP.
The Snohomish County Public Safety Hub is updated daily throughout the cold weather season to show shelter openings and closures on any given night. Bookmark and share the hub: www.bit.ly/snococold.
Snohomish County is hosting the 18th annual Focus on Farming and Forestry Conference on November 9 at the Evergreen State Fair Park in Monroe. Providing quality education to sustain current farmers and attract new ones to our region is a critical component of the work of the County’s Office of Agriculture. This is also essential in securing the next generation's local food supply and supporting Snohomish County’s agriculture industry.
“Agriculture has been an important part of Snohomish County’s economy, culture, and civic life for generations. Supporting and growing a strong agriculture sector is crucial for maintaining the quality of life and economic health of our residents,” said Executive Somers. “I encourage all those who are interested and able to attend the upcoming Focus on Farming and Forestry conference so we can continue to support this vital industry.”
Those interested in attending the event can view the full agenda and pre-register at www.FocusOnFarming.org. Entry includes breakfast and a farm-to-table lunch prepared by Chef Russell Lowell.
