Executive Somers and Treasurer Brian Sullivan, with the support of the County Council, allocated $400,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to provide foreclosure assistance to families disproportionally impacted by COVID-19 who are struggling to overcome the lasting impacts of the pandemic.
This targeted one-time program supports disproportionately impacted households at risk of foreclosure and will allow qualifying families to access ARPA funds to cover their overdue 2020 tax bill.
“Keeping families housed is one of the most important ways we can address this region’s homelessness crisis. By using our federal ARPA funds to keep vulnerable families in their homes, we’re helping our entire community recover from the lasting effects of the pandemic,” said Executive Somers. “I’m grateful to our partners at the Treasurer’s Office for the compassionate and smart use of these funds.”
If you are at risk of foreclosure, please monitor your mailbox for a letter from the Treasurer’s office. If you have questions about the program, you can contact the Treasurer’s office at STR-ARPA@snoco.org or check out our frequently asked questions page here.

This week, Executive Somers announced that Snohomish County is accepting applications for a $6 million Workforce Recovery Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). The Workforce Recovery NOFA will fund projects that provide enhanced employment training and/or address challenges to employment, with the goal of connecting individuals to stable jobs or career pathways. The NOFA is funded through the County’s federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation.
“When we talked to the community about their priorities for pandemic recovery, supporting our workforce came up in nearly every conversation we had. Right now, employers are struggling to hire the staff they need, and vulnerable populations are struggling to find good-paying jobs due to systemic challenges,” said Executive Somers. “With these investments, we want to create a gold-standard workforce development system that meets the needs of community members and employers.”
ORR is hosting a virtual information session for organizations interested in applying for the Workforce Recovery NOFA on May 11 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Interested organizations can access the information session on this website. The County is accepting NOFA applications until 4 p.m. on May 26, 2023. Anyone with questions about this NOFA can email ORR at SnohomishCounty.Recovers@snoco.org.
