Snohomish County Parks Survey

Snohomish County Parks, Recreation & Tourism Division launched a survey to gather input from residents.  This survey will collect feedback about park facilities and programs, user priorities and values, as well as barriers that might be keeping people from visiting the parks.  Community input will help the division decide where to focus their efforts and public resources. They last reached out with a similar survey in March 2020, but after a record-breaking summer of outdoor use, they want to check in again and find out how the public wants the county to focus on Parks in the future.

To gather feedback and hear from a diverse range of county residents, the survey has been translated into 11 languages and will be open until May 20, 2021.

Planning Commission Vacancy

A recent vacancy on the Snohomish County Planning Commission provides residents of District 3 the opportunity to serve as part of the process of county government, acting as an advisory group to the County Council and County Executive on issues and policies related to planning, land use regulation, and community development.

Planning Commissioners are citizen volunteers (not county employees) and are appointed by the County Council. They usually serve four-year terms and can be reappointed for a second four-year term.  However, the person who is appointed to this open position would finish out the current term, which expires July 2022.  This would not count towards their first full term on the commission. Interested parties can find applications and more information on the County Boards and Commissions page.

Public Input Sought for Workforce Local Area Plan

The Snohomish County Future Workforce Alliance is seeking public engagement for the 2020-2024 Local Area Plan.  The Local Area Plan, as required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, will serve as a guide for Snohomish County’s workforce development system. The plan outlines the goals, objectives, and strategies to increase skill levels, employment, earnings, customer satisfaction, and return on workforce development investments as we work collaboratively to strengthen the county’s economic foundation.  Public comment on the draft Local Area Plan will help ensure the priorities and concerns of Snohomish County residents and businesses are considered.

The timeline for the 2020-2024 Local Area Plan is as follows:

  • May 7 – June 7, 2021: Public comment period on Snohomish County Local Area Plan
  • June 17, 2021: Future Workforce Alliance consideration to forward Local Area Plan to Washington Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.
  • Summer/Fall 2021 (Exact dates will be set later.):
    • State comments on draft local plans transmitted to Local Workforce Development Boards following review.
    • Final, signed local plans due to the Washington Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board and Employment Security Department.
    • Washington Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board takes action on local plans on behalf of the Governor.
    • Local plans are approved by the Governor .
    • Local Chief Elected Officials and Local Workforce Development Boards notified by Washington Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board approval of their local plans (official correspondence to follow).

More information can be found on the Future Workforce Alliance website.  To comment on the draft Snohomish County 2020-2024 Local Area Plan, please email Simreet.Dhaliwal@snoco.org.

Covid-19 Update: Vaccination Appointments No Longer Required

The Snohomish Health District is no longer requiring appointments at any of their mass-vaccination sites.  While it is still recommended that interested residents register ahead of time just so they don’t have to do it upon arrival, no one will be turned away.

As always, this is an evolving situation and we can all help fight this pandemic by staying informed and prepared. The latest information for testing locations, vaccination availability and general information can be found on the Health District Website and is updated regularly.  Those who prefer the telephone can find more information via the Snohomish Health District's COVID-19 call center at 425-339-5278.
