Snohomish County is staying in Phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan, for now.
Gov. Jay Inslee on Tuesday announced a two-week pause in counties sliding back phases, despite several, including Snohomish County, failing to meet the state’s benchmarks to remain in Phase 3.
“I appreciate the governor’s thoughtful approach and think this decision is the best one for Snohomish County and the region,” Executive Dave Somers said in a statement. “Our trend lines are plateauing, and keeping our small businesses open after a very hard year will support our recovery. Snohomish County remains focused on getting more vaccines into arms, the one tool we know can get us over the fourth wave and end the pandemic. Keeping masks on and getting our community vaccinated will help us get there.”
The latest two-week case rate, ending Saturday, shows 229 new infections per 100,000 people. The previous count reported 223 per 100,000.
The rate of new cases is at 229 per 100,000 people. The more people who are vaccinated, the quicker we can turn this around. #Vaxupsnoco #InItTogether
Starting Wednesday, May 5, all mass vaccination sites operated by the Snohomish County Vaccine Taskforce will begin offering on-site registration for people who do not have a prior appointment.
People may arrive at the sites during open hours to receive their vaccine even if they do not have an appointment. Vaccinations will be provided as long as doses are available. They will be asked to register on-site for their shot using a digital or paper form.
The taskforce still highly recommends registering in advance. This reserves a dose for that appointment. Vaccines for those without an appointment will be given on a first come, first served basis.
Signing up for an appointment is easy. It can be done online using the registration links at http://bit.ly/snocovaccine, or over the phone by calling 425-339-5278 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The hours of the vaccination sites for May 5 through May 11 are as follows:
- Arlington Airport: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Monday-Tuesday (Pfizer)
- Ash Way Park & Ride Lynnwood: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday (Pfizer)
- Boom City Tulalip/Marysville: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (Moderna)
- Boeing Everett Activity Center: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Monday-Tuesday (Moderna)
- Edmonds College: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday-Saturday, and Monday-Tuesday (Moderna)
- Evergreen State Fairgrounds Monroe: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Monday-Tuesday (Moderna)
Appointments are not being offered this week at the Angel Of The Winds Arena mass vaccination site. The taskforce did not receive allocation of Johnson & Johnson for the mass vaccination sites.

*If you received your first of a two-dose COVID vaccine at the Snohomish County Vaccine Taskforce sites in Arlington, Monroe or Boom City, please watch for an email arriving within a few days before or after your target date for a second dose. The email will include a registration link just for people who received their first dose at the mass vaccination site and need to schedule their second dose. You may not be able to register for an appointment on your target date, but don’t worry. The available appointments will still be within the acceptable window for your second dose.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to authorize Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for youngsters ages 12 to 15 by next week, according to a federal official and a person familiar with the process, setting up shots for many before the beginning of the next school year.
The announcement is set to come a month after the company found that its shot, which is already authorized for those age 16 and older, also provided protection for the younger group.
