Working Washington Small Business Grants
Gov. Jay Inslee announced an additional $70 million for business grants, with $50 million of this for Round 3 of the Working Washington Small Business Grants. The remainder will go towards funding qualified businesses that applied in earlier rounds of our resiliency grant program. Businesses that applied for the resiliency grant program will not need to take any action. Applications for up to $20,000 in emergency funding has already opened and has an application deadline of Friday, December 11th. Applications received after December 11th will only be considered if funds remain after the initial applicants are considered.
These grants are prioritized for:
-
Small businesses with annual revenues of $5 million or less in 2019 and businesses in the sectors that are most impacted by the recent public health measures or sectors that have experienced significant, cumulative impacts. Examples include full-service restaurants, fitness centers, bowling alleys and music and event venues.
-
Certain nonprofits may also be eligible if they have a primary business activity that falls into a similar category as noted above. Example – a nonprofit full-service restaurant or nonprofit music venue.
-
If Commerce is able to fund all the eligible applicants from the priority pool, and funds remain, we may be able to provide grants to additional businesses or nonprofits from other sectors or who have annual revenues larger than $5 million.
The grant can only cover expenses or costs incurred due to COVID-19 that were necessary to continue business operations. The application describes additional criteria and more detail regarding what expenses are covered by this grant.

Snohomish County has launched a new campaign called Support SnoCo to boost the economic health of local businesses. This program is one of the recommendations from the Snohomish County Economic and Workforce Recovery Task Force and is being funded through federal CARES Act resources. A key feature of the effort is the SupportSnoCo.com site featuring local businesses from across the County and encouraging people to spend holiday dollars locally this year.
This effort allows businesses to both attract more customers and maintain their COVID-19 protocols during the holiday season. Support SnoCo is an integrated partnership bringing together public and private entities—including local chambers of commerce, cities, and towns—with the goal of supporting small businesses impacted by the pandemic. Powered by the community coming together, this effort represents the strength and resiliency of our business community as they adapt to change.
The second part of the two-part Fall Workshop from the Snohomish County Light Rail Communities Project is now open. Part 1 of the workshop focused on sharing the results of previous public engagement, which included open houses in the community and online surveys. Part 2 of the workshop will share additional information, as well as request input from the public, on the topic of housing affordability
Snohomish County, in partnership with numerous interested parties, is planning for the arrival of light rail in the mid-2030s through the preparation of a subarea plan. As the latest steps in an extended public engagement process, the Light Rail Communities Project is seeking input through a two-part online workshop to:
-
(Open Nov. 6) Gather your reactions to the results of two public engagement events held earlier this year; and
-
(Open Nov. 26) Hear from you about the topic of housing affordability in an area of Southwest Snohomish County.
Each part of the workshop takes about 30min to complete and will be available through December 20th.
Those residents looking for Winter activities for adults and children can now register for activities, special events, and more. During such uncertain times, it is important to take advantage of every opportunity to get outside, form social connections, exercise, and learn something new. More information on available activities can be found in the Lynnwood Recreation Guide. Registrations can be done online or over the phone during regular business hours at 425-670-5732.
