Paula Rhyne, Legislative Aide

Welcome!

It is an honor and privilege to write to you as the newest Snohomish County Councilmember for District 2! On Monday, January 6, I was sworn into office by Snohomish County District Court Judge Jennifer Rancourt in the Snohomish County Council Chambers. It was standing room only and I was thrilled that so many members of our community were able to attend. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin, Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson, Tulalip Tribes Board of Directors Chairwoman Teri Gobin, and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers all provided thoughtful remarks and well wishes. Thank you to all who were able to attend!

We have so much to be proud of in Snohomish County. I am excited to hit the ground running to work to protect and improve our well-being by focusing on affordability, livability and sustainability. I bring a 20-year work and volunteer background with me to this position. As a community leader, environmental advocate, and proud mother of two Everett Public School kids, I look forward to serving District 2 on the County Council.

As this is the first time in 12 years that District 2 will have a new representative, I will be convening a transition team to identify short and long-term priorities. If you have any suggestions of stakeholders who should be included, please let me know.

As you may know, I was the chair for the successful Everett Districts Now campaign which brought geographic districts to the Everett City Council. Representation matters and it is important to me that all voices are heard during decision making processes. If you, or anyone you know, has interest in serving on any of Snohomish County’s 43 Boards and Commissions, please reach out to our office and we can work with you through the application process. We will highlight opportunities as they come available.

Our District 2 office is committed to being responsive and inclusive of all residents in the County. If our office can ever be of assistance to you, please feel free to get in touch with me using the email or phone numbers listed on this page. Additionally, if there are community events or gatherings that you are aware of, please send me an invitation so I can attend and also share the event with others. My Legislative Aide is Paula Rhyne, and we look forward to going out into the community to meet you and learn more about the groups and organizations that make our district such a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the residents of Snohomish County! To read more about my background, please visit our District 2 webpage.

Sincerely,

Megan Dunn

This Month's Highlight: The Arts

One of the most special things about the area that we live in is the rich environment with so many natural resources available. The mountains, the forest, and the sound are just some of the sources of inspiration for our local artists. Art in our communities is one way that we can improve the livability of our great county.

This month, I’d like to highlight art-making events in the district along with Grants for Arts & Culture opportunity through the Snohomish County Arts Commission. The Snohomish County Arts Commission cultivates and enhances our community of artists and organizations by connecting citizens with cultural opportunities in the county. Snohomish County’s Arts Commission has $24,000 available in grant funding for public and nonprofit agencies for arts projects. The due date for applications is 5pm on February 28, and grant funded programs must be completed this year. To learn more about this great funding opportunity, please visit www.snocoarts.org or contact Jeremy Husby, Snohomish County Parks Cultural Resource Manager at Jeremy.husby@snoco.org, or by phone at 425-388-6601.

Additionally, the Snohomish County Arts Commission is in charge of the rotating art display at the County’s Robert J. Drewel Administration Building. The Commission is seeking proposals from local artists to loan their works for the gallery display in the lobby. To learn more about this call-for-artists, please review this pdf.
