April 8th District 5 County Council meeting
In November of 2016 Snohomish County citizens voted to pass Proposition 5 which requires the County Council to hold an evening meeting in each County Council district at least once each calendar year. On April 8th the Council will hold the District 5 meeting at the Startup Events Center which is located on US Rte 2 between 366th Ave SE & 367th Ave SE. This meeting will begin at 6pm. I will be staying after the meeting to talk with anyone who might have questions regarding the county.
Roads Update
US 2 - Bickford Ave to Gold Bar - Paving & Joints & Improvements & ADA
In 2019 WSDOT will spend $18.9 million on safety improvements and preservation efforts along nearly 25 miles of US 2 from Bickford Avenue to Gold Bar. This project is kicking off with some early morning survey work Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5. If you see the crews at work, be sure to give them space. For additional information please go to the WSDOT website.
Connelly Road Update
As many of you may know, Connelly Road is currently closed due to the rail bridge being hit last week. Public works is working closely with the railroad provider to facilitate the repair so the road can be re-opened. Public Works is exploring options of having the road open until a fix can be completed as well as remaining committed to the safety of our residents. This is a complicated fix with many agencies involved in the process. We appreciate everyone’s patience and will work to get the road open as soon as possible. I can also assure everyone I am committed to keeping the rail line open.
US 2 Local Access Update
There has been quite a concern in the Sky Valley area regarding through traffic using local roads to bypass US 2. I worked with our Public Works Department and on March 19th local access only signs were installed on Kellogg Lake Road and Reiter Road. Below is a picture of the signs that were placed.
At the state of the county address, Executive Somers premiered a new video produced by our Parks department that shows the beauty of our county as well as highlighting Paine Field’s new commercial air service. You can view the video here. I am proud of Snohomish County and our commitment to provide services to our residents in new and creative ways. Through this innovative Public-Private Partnership, commercial airline service is right here in Snohomish County without using tax payers dollars. This airport is the first of its kind in the United States.
