Wright Elected Board of Health Chair

On January 8, 2019, Councilmember Wright was elected to serve as Chair of the Snohomish County Board of Health, which is composed of city and county elected officials that oversee the policies and budget of the Health District. As Chair, she will continue to advocate for policies that strengthen and benefit community health in every corner of the county. The Snohomish County Health District was created in 1959 to be an independent special purpose district responsible for public health. Their mission is to work for safer and healthier communities through disease prevention, health promotion, and protection from environmental threats. Wright previously served as Vice-Chair in 2018, and as Chair in 2014.

National Association of Counties Committees

For 2019, Wright continues her work on a number of committees with the National Association of Counties (NACo). On the Veterans and Military Service Committee, they develop and highlight best practices and policies at the county level that promote services, benefits, and innovative programs for our nation’s military veterans and their families. The Community, Economic, and Workforce Development Steering Committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to housing, community, and economic development. This includes the creation of affordable housing and housing options for different populations, building and housing codes, as well as residential, commercial, and industrial development. The Large Urban County Caucus is the premier forum for county leaders from major metropolitan areas to engage the United States Congress and White House, and to influence national policy discussions on urban challenges and solutions.

Washington State Association of Counties

Councilmember Wright was elected by her peers to continue in her role on the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) Executive Board as the Immediate Past President. WSAC was created in 1906 as a non-profit association providing services to all of Washington’s 39 counties, as well as engaging the state and federal legislatures on issues and policies that impact our counties. Wright will also serve on the Federal Issues Committee, as well as represent WSAC on the NACo Western Interstate Region Board of Directors, which is dedicated to the promotion of Western interests at the national level.
