Evergreen State Fair

2018 Evergreen State Fair

The Evergreen State Fair, one of Snohomish County's most beloved traditions, will return Aug 23rd - Sept 3rd.  Whether you brave the carnival rides, fill yourself on delectable delights, take in a concert or saddle-up to the ProWest Rodeo, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. There are special admission days featuring discounted or even free admission, so keep an eye out for the one that suits you best.

While there are plenty of opportunities to take photos of bearded goats or lumberjacks in the logging show, selfie-sticks will not be permitted on the fairgrounds due to their role in a number of injuries and mechanical problems at fairgrounds across the country. Put on a sunhat, grab the kids, and mosey on down to the fairgrounds in Monroe!

Maple Road & Ash Way Improvements

Ash and Maple

The intersection and drainage improvement project at Maple road and Ash Way reached a milestone in July, with the placement of the final steel pile.  Crews have now begun pouring concrete roadway slabs on the east end of Maple Road.  This project is a partnership between Snohomish County and the City of Lynnwood.  More information and photos of the progress can be found at the project web page.

Edmonds Area Lane Closure

Motorists and residents in the Edmonds area are being advised of the single lane closure on Beverly Park Road, Picnic Point Road, and Shelby Road.  This work will include grinding and overlay for the previous sewer installation project.  This closure will be from Aug 6th through Oct 1st, between the hours of 7:30am – 4pm from 8/6 to 9/4, and then 9am - 2:30pm from 9/5 to 10/1.  Emergency vehicles and school district transportation will have access at all times.  Additional information can be found on the Public Works Roads Central page or at 425-388-6453.

Family Events in Lynnwood

It has been a busy summer of family fun, but the adventures continue in Lynnwood.  The final Shakespeare in the Park performance will be Thursday, August 9th at 7pm in the Greenstage of Lynndale Park Amphitheater. Three Musketeers will bring a swashbuckling end to this wonderful summer tradition.

History and Heritage Days continue Saturday, August 11th, with a look at Lynnwoods first fire engine (a 1925 Reo Speedwagon - not to be confused with the air guitar-inspiring band of the same name).  Go visit Interurban Car 55 and get a free conductor’s hat, LEGO trolley kit or airplane.  Visit the Lynnwood-Alderwood Manor Heritage Association and Museum, Sno-Isle Genealogy Library, and NW Veterans Museum as well!

There will be music and dance at Lynndale Park, on Saturday, Aug 11th, as “Love America Project” performs shows at 4:30pm and 7pm.  This troupe, comprised of international musicians and dancers, have been touring the country this summer, and are making a stop in Lynnwood to perform two shows, as well as host a BBQ dinner from 6-7pm.  Vegetarian options will be available for those so inclined.

Taste Edmonds

Taste Edmonds

The 36th annual Taste Edmonds is something to be savored August 10th -12th, with three days of food, music, vendors, and rides for the whole family.  There will be a new festival layout, with a number of new features and attractions making their debut this year.  An expanded beer and wine garden will delight the grown-up children, while bouncy houses are free this year for all the little ones to enjoy!  Music schedules, ticket prices, and other information can be found at the Taste Edmonds website.

Farming Fun For All

Local certified organic farm, market, and education center 21 Acres has a number of activities and events that will appeal to the whole family.  There are U-pick blackberry opportunities on Aug 9th and Aug 16th. Special dinners will be held on Friday, August 10th and Friday, August 23rd.  There are native plant sales Sept 22nd, volunteer opportunities for Saturday work parties, and classes featuring themes like Autumn Pizza on the Farm and Irresistible Baked Donuts.  More information on events, classes, and educational opportunities can be found on their website.
