Seeking Volunteers to Serve on a Pro/Con Committee

On June 20th, 2018 the Snohomish County Council passed Ordinance 18-037. This ordinance provides for submission to the qualified voters of the county a proposition authorizing a local sale and use tax of one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) for emergency communication systems and facilities. In this the council also adopted a new chapter to the Snohomish County Code – 4.30 SCC.

Snohomish County has the responsibility of appointing members to a committee that will write a statement for the measure (pro) and a committee that will write a statement against the measure (con). Committees are allowed to have up to three members. Council is seeking people to serve on either a pro or con committee for the ballot measure. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please submit a letter of interest to the Snohomish County Council no later than 5PM on July 16th, 2018.

County Accepting Applications for 2019 Hotel-Motel Grant

Snohomish County announced it is accepting annual tourism grant applications from non-profit and public tourism organizations for projects that increase overnight stays in the county.

Funds may be used for marketing and promotion of visitor-related events, projects and activities which draw tourists to stay overnight in the county, and strongly align with the new 2018-2022 Snohomish County Strategic Tourism Plan.

Snohomish County Parks, Recreation and Tourism will be providing an informational Hotel-Motel grant workshop on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 to provide technical assistance with the 2019 grant application and to review the 2018-2022 Plan. It will be held at Willis Tucker Park (Gary Weikel Room), 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish WA 98296, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Approved grant funding starts in January 2019 for projects to be completed by December 15, 2019. Details of eligibility and other program requirements are included in the application package, which must be completed and returned to Snohomish County Parks, Recreation and Tourism at Willis Tucker Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, M/S 303, Snohomish, WA 98296 by 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018. The Jetty Island ferry is running again for the season!  How fortunate we are to have this beautiful jewel right in our backyard!

Welcome Aboard the Jetty Island Ferry

The free ferry departs from the Jetty Landing & Boat Launch at 10th and W. Marine View Dr. Help us keep cruising with a suggested donation: $2 per adult and $1 per child. Thank you.

Cancellations & Closures

Ferry service may be canceled due to inclement weather. Call 425-257-8304 if the weather is in doubt. When the jetty reaches maximum capacity, trips to the jetty will be suspended. We recommend you check at the jetty kiosk before paying for parking.

Reserve Your Spot on the Ferry!

• Open to City of Everett residents and groups of 8 or more. 
• Schedule two business days or more in advance. 
• Business hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. Closed Sat & Sun. 
• Call the Jetty Island reservation line: 425-257-8304 (April 2 - Aug 31)

Boarding the Ferry

• Allow at least 15 minutes to pick up your boarding pass prior to your ferry departure time. 
• Allow time to pay for parking (see below). 
• Tickets not claimed 15 minutes prior to ferry departure will be given to those on standby.  

Parking

The Port of Everett parking fee is $3. Parking machines accept credit cards or cash, but do not dispense change. 

Plan Ahead

Plan for an enjoyable day on the Jetty. Bring your own water, food and beverages. Sunscreen, hats, shoes, towels and extra clothing are advisable. Optional: Sand toys and beach umbrellas. Our all-sand paths are not suitable for strollers and other wheeled equipment. If you would like to visit the Jetty without a ferry reservation, we suggest you consider after 2pm on weekdays, before and after mid-day on weekends and any overcast day. 

Jetty Island Rules

• Pets, alcohol and drugs are not permitted. 
• Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 
• Campfires permitted ONLY in designated fire pits. 
• No lifeguards; swim ONLY on the west shore at your own risk. 
• No overnight camping. 
• Pack it in. Pack it out. Recycle.

Jetty Island Days is a cooperative program between the Port of Everett and Everett Parks & Community Services.

Join us for the best summer dance party with the most spectacular waterfront backdrop! Bring a picnic, chairs or blankets (a lovely park lawn is available for picknickers.) Choose to stay overnight and enjoy the concert from the Inn at Port Gardner's patio. Have dinner, stage-side, at Lombardi's Italian Restaurant or from a local food truck, grab a glass of wine or beer at the Marina Beer Garden (Cash Only).

Amazing Race

Amazing Race

Teams of two solve clues to find locations throughout Mukilteo and complete six challenges. To maximize the competitiveness of the event, the challenges are a mix of physical, mental and creative. Event will end with awards & beverages. (First beverage included in Amazing Race entry.)

Registration Cost: $50 per team until July 1. 
Registration Cost: $60 per team on July 2nd to Race Day at Kamiak High School*

• This year’s race will be timed from start to finish (including driving time). The three teams with the lowest times will win prizes. (**there may be timing deductions and additions in some challenges, so the first to complete is not necessarily the first to win)
• 1st Place Cash Prize
• Prizes for the Best Team Costume, Best Team Name and Farthest Travelled
• Challenge locations will remain mostly a secret so that everyone has the challenge of figuring out their next location (much like a scavenger hunt).
