Snohomish County Council Evening Meeting in Edmonds

On Monday February 5th, the Snohomish County Council will hold their first evening meeting of 2018 at the Edmonds City Council Chambers at 6pm.  The meeting agenda can be found on the County website and each public meeting includes a public comment period. The Council encourages the public to attend these meetings as they are able and to come with ideas and suggestions for the council as the plan for the 2019 County budget.  In November of 2016, Snohomish County voters passed Proposition 5, which requires the County Council to hold an evening meeting in each of the five County Council districts.  The first will be held in District 3, while a schedule for the remaining districts will be finalized shortly.  The Edmonds City Council Chambers are located at 250 – 5th Ave N in downtown Edmonds.

Free Community Film Series Hosted By Snohomish County Marine Resources Committee

As part of their free community film series, the Snohomish County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) and Snohomish County Public Works will be hosting a Puget Sound-focused event on Wednesday, February 7th at 7pm.  Three films will be shown that feature the underwater life of Puget Sound and the Olympic Coast, including: Return of the King, Discovering the Olympic Coast, and a short video on the MRC’s Kelp Monitoring Project.  The event will be held on the UW Bothell Campus at the North Creek Events Center, and feature director Florian Graner.  The event is free and open to the public, though an RSVP will help organizers prepare for the event.  While the films (and popcorn!) are complementary, there is a $4 parking fee at nearby parking lots and garages.  Subsequent films in the series will be hosted at both UW Bothell and Everett Community College campuses.  More information on the dates, locations and films featured at these free events can be found at

Artist Reception at Lynnwood Convention Center

The public is invited to meet the artists contributing the “Northwest Vision” exhibit that is on display at the Lynnwood Convention Center through June of 2018.  A reception will be held on February 21st from 6pm – 8pm that is free and open to the public.  This is a great opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy their work.  Complimentary appetizers will be served and a no-host bar provided.  More information on the artists, the exhibit, hours and location can be found at the convention center website.

Small Capital Project Partnership Grants

Snohomish County is accepting applications for small capital projects partnership (SCPP) grants until March 30th, 2018.  These grants are helpful to community groups and cities to fund small capital projects that might not otherwise be completed.  Grants are issued on a reimbursement basis only and work on the projects must be completed before grant money is issued.  Projects must be submitted by both the applicant group and a public entity as a joint project.  Proposals will be evaluated against criteria that include: the application’s completeness, the proposed project’s consistency with funding limitations imposed by the State of Washington for Real Estate Excise Tax (REET) funds, feasibility and timing to implementation, availability of matching funds, availability of in-kind materials and labor, demonstrated success in completing similar projects, and other relevant information demonstrating the proposed project’s value, readiness, and benefit.  Questions regarding the program can be directed to Jim Martin, Office of the Snohomish County Council, at 425-388-6250 or

Full Road Closure on Norma Beach Road

The Snohomish County Department of Public Works advises motorists in the Edmonds area of the full road closure on Norma Beach Road.  Effective immediately and until further notice, Norma Beach Road is closed east of the railroad tracks at approximately the 7300 block, west of 65th Ave West, due to mud slides.  Current conditions will prevent emergency vehicles, school bus transportation or residents from accessing this area safely and no vehicles will be allowed on the closed portions of the road at this time.  Questions about this project may be directed to Snohomish County Public Works, at 425-388-6453 or at their Roads Central page on the county website.
