County Council

The County Council unanimously elected Stephanie Wright to serve as Chair of the County Council for 2018.

I am honored to have the unanimous support of my peers who elected me to serve as Vice-Chair of the Council.

I want to congratulate Councilman Brian Sullivan for his service as the previous Council Chair.  Brian has been a long time public servant, and he brought many years of experience to our Council.

Your County Council is committed to working together for the betterment of Snohomish County.

Restricted Hiring Ordinance

The Snohomish County Council passed a new Restricted Hiring Process Ordinance with a unanimous 5-0 vote at our January 17th Public Hearing. The new Ordinance applies to management exempt employees. When a vacancy occurs, each department will need to come to our Council and seek approval before advertising and filling the position. If the position is absolutely needed and funds are available, Council can authorize the position to be filled.

This Ordinance is the first of several initiatives Council is pursuing so we can get ahead of our tightening budgets as opposed to waiting until the next annual budget cycle. We will have public hearings on each new Ordinance. I will keep you posted on this!

Fighting for Snohomish County in Olympia

Palumbo
Councilmember Ryan with Senator Palumbo talking just off the Senate floor.

Part of my job as a County Council member is to represent my constituents in Olympia. On January 19, I met with several different legislators to discuss Snohomish County's need for road funding as well as programs to help the homeless and addicted. I'm always ready to drive to Olympia to testify on a bill or talk with legislators when it makes a difference for our County.

The quality of the facility is very impressive.  Arena Sports spared no expense in building a premier recreational and entertainment facility.

Thank you to Don Crowe, CEO of Arena Sports, for investing in our community!

Congratulations and welcome to Snohomish County!

Road-widening work is complete, and the sidewalk and wall near Denny’s are also complete.  The bus only lane is also open.

Landscaping along the new sidewalk is planned for next week, subject to weather conditions.

New traffic poles and lane signage are scheduled to be installed this spring.

Rail

East of I-5

Work on the east side of I-5 is focused on backfilling the holes that were dug for infrastructure conduits.

Sidewalks near 3rd Avenue SE are scheduled for demolition sometime next week, if weather allows, to give the PUD access to underground utility lines.
