Mill Creek honors those who died defending our freedom

Memorial Day 1
Terry laying red carnation at veterns monument in Mill Creek

Mill Creek honored those who died defending our freedoms at a Commemorative Ceremony on Friday, May 26 at the Veteran’s Monument at Library Park.  After the ceremony, red carnations were laid at the base of the monument.

Monday, the City held a parade through the Town Center.  Thousands of people attended.  It was gratifying to see so many young families waving flags on the sidewalks alongside our Veterans.

Thank you to everyone for coming and to the City of Mill Creek for all their efforts to remember those who died so that we can live free.

Community Transit Expands Service

Community Transit

The Community Transit Board of Directors approved a plan to increase bus service by 6 percent this fall, including two routes that will serve the Boeing-Paine Field area from south Snohomish County.

The plan will also improve transit connections throughout the county, add more weekday trips to Seattle and UW, and improve Sunday bus service with more frequent buses and later hours on some routes.

The final plan differs slightly from a proposal offered to riders in March, based on customer feedback. All changes will be effective this fall, except for the extension of late-night Sunday service, which will take effect in March 2018.

For specific route information, please visit www.communitytransit.org.

Job Opportunities

There are currently 29 open job opportunities and internships available at Snohomish County.  Job openings are constantly changing so check back to see new opportunities.  Snohomish County is a great place to work! Visit www.snoco.org.

Community Transit is also hiring.  They are currently looking for Coach Operator trainees, Maintenance Development Instructor, Contracted Services Coordinator and Journey Mechanics.  For more information, please visit www.communitytransit.org.

Community meetings

Over the last three years, I have attended many community meetings throughout my district.

Some of these meetings are very specific: Neighborhoods requesting information regarding pending development or the possibility of slowing traffic down on their residential streets, I’ve attended Town Hall meetings to provide information to our residents and homeowner association residents concerned about impacts of the heroin epidemic in Snohomish County.  I’ve had the opportunity to speak to professional organizations on economic development and what Snohomish County is doing to help local businesses.

Whatever your concern, if your neighborhood, homeowners association or professional organization would like to schedule a community meeting please contact my office at 425-388-3494 and we will set it up.  I always enjoy meeting and helping our residents.

Volunteer opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer in Snohomish County.  Available openings throughout the County and application procedures can be found at: https://snohomishcountywa.gov/128/Boards-Commissions.  Vacancies pop up frequently.

Currently I am looking for a resident of my district to serve on the Human Rights Commission.  There are two vacancies on the Historic Preservation Commission for District 4 residents.  We also need volunteers on the Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board.

If you can help, please visit the County web site for an application or contact my office.
