Jim Langston Appointed to Planning Commission
Coming
into office I wanted to make sure the voice of our communities were
appropriately represented so I moved forward with the appointment of Jim
Langston to the Planning commission. Jim
is a long time resident of the Maltby community and a local business owner. He brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to the commission and District 5 will greatly benefit in having him
on the commission.
Highway 9 – WSDOT Interim improvements open house
It
was great to get out this month to the WSDOT meeting at Glacier Peak High
School to review the options under consideration to provide short-term, low
cost traffic congestion improvements to State Route 9 through Clearview. Several citizens came out to review the
options and talk with WSDOT engineers about the options presented. Here is a link to provide you with more
information on the meeting http://www.snoho.com/html/stories_2017/01182017_Highway_9_opinons_sought.html.
I will be out in Monroe Tuesday the 31st
to judge the 1st annual Monroe Chili Bowl. Come out and cast your vote. To vote, you can either place $$ in the bucket or
bring canned food. $1 = 1 vote or 1 can of food = 1 vote. There will be
cornbread, beer garden and chili survival packs for sale. This event will be
benefitting the East County Senior Center, Sky Valley Food Bank, Monroe Boys
& Girls Club and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce. For more information go to http://www.monroewa.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=915&month=1&year=2017&day=25&calType=0
I
spoke to over 600 people at the “Night of Champions” event at the Evergreen
Speedway this month. Our track is one of
the top tracks in the United States. As
the only County Council member in the state with a NASCAR track in his
district, I can say that we are second to none.
I want to invite everyone to take some time this year and come out to
the races! http://www.evergreenspeedway.com/
I will be sending out a
newsletter next month to follow up on a community forum/open house in the
Maltby area. We are working with all the
departments here at the county and will have a date and time coming
shortly.
