City Council Selects Site for Future Civic Campus
We are excited to share that the City Council made a formal decision on July 22 to proceed with purchasing property for the SeaTac Civic Campus at 2701 S. 200th Street. This decision was reached after seven months of community engagement, technical analysis, and careful cross-discipline analysis. Multiple community members and representatives of community-based organizations spoke during the July 22 meeting in support of the proposed site location and the project; their comments were echoed by City Councilmembers. More than 600 people provided feedback to the City Council during the most recent round of feedback.
The 2701 S. 200th Street site is about 8.5 acres in area, located near Angle Lake station, and is readily accessible to the SeaTac community. The site is large enough to support a wide variety of SeaTac community uses such as a Farmer’s and/or International Market, restaurants/cafés, housing, community and small business support services. The site will also house a new City Hall and related civic services.
Looking forward, we anticipate the following work to occur between now and the end of 2025:
-
August – September: Completion of the site due diligence (soil testing).
-
August – October: Council review and action to approve a bond to pay for the purchase of the site.
-
November: Issuance of bond to fund purchase of the site.
-
December: Closing on the purchase.
We will begin a new round of community engagement and detailed master planning in 2026 that will further help us develop the Civic Campus.
Special thanks to our partner organizations for their help obtaining community feedback over the past several months: ReWA, Highline School District, Valley View KCLS, Healthpoint, PIE, Highline Heritage Museum, IRC, Windsor Heights, LCSNW, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce, ACHD, and Serve Ethiopians Washington.
You can find more information about this exciting addition to our community, as well as future updates about the project, on our Speak Up site. We look forward to hearing from you!
