With just six days left of the 2026 legislative session, the capitol is buzzing with activity. Floor votes continue for bills that have survived all previous cutoffs.
The space outside of the House and Senate chambers are crowded with people hoping to pull a legislator from the floor for a quick conversation.
Occasionally, staff will come out and yell, “Roll call!” to alert legislators that they are needed on the floor for the next vote. Those of us who aren’t engaging on the remaining bills are in a waiting period as the budget is reconciled.
Sadly, I had to miss Potato Day and Dairy Day this session. But I did manage to make it to Beef Day on March 5
Monitoring floor activity
At this point in session, most committees have completed their business. The final days are reserved for session on the floor or time for the parties to caucus together. For those who are still tracking bills as they make their way across the finish line (or not), you can use the Legislature’s Floor Activity website to see which bills are up for consideration.
This website displays the current floor activity for the House and Senate, showing whether they are actively considering a bill or “at ease.” The activity details for each chamber will show the list of bills on the calendar. You can also watch the House and Senate live on TVW as they deliberate, debate, and vote on bills.
Bills are listed in the order they were placed onto the calendar by the Rules committee, along with any floor amendments that have been proposed. This is not the order that they will be considered, however, you can view the order of consideration for the next few bills up for a vote. Just because a bill has made it to the calendar does not guarantee it will make it through the process by sine die.
