Dairy Planner Networking Forum
Today! Tuesday, May 13, @ 11AM
Join Conservation District staff from around the state at the Dairy Planner Networking Forum to connect, share, and learn.
Join us for special Guest Speaker, Bruce Scholten.
Bruce Scholten, whose father (Bas Scholten) helped lead the Whatcom Conservation District in the 70’s and 80’s, authored: Dairy Farming in the 21st Century: Global Ethics, Environment and Politics in 2022. It was awarded honorable mention for the 2024 GFASG Book Award. His book covers a broad range of topics including: How do we achieve food security for a global population now over 7 billion people and trending towards 10 billion by 2050? This study of the global dairy industry examines how to balance our needs with those of animals and the environment. It scrutinizes ruminant bovines' worrying exhaling of methane, a greenhouse gas which, fortunately, evidence shows can be reduced by adding seaweed to cattle feed.
Bruce is going to join us to share a presentation on: SEAWEED CEILING: Women's work & dairy methane (CH4).
Hosted by: Megan Weldon, King CD
