VSP staffing transition
Thank you, Bill Eller!
Bill Eller has accepted a new role as coordinator for SCC's Disaster Assistance Program (DAP) and will be moving on from VSP. Bill has been VSP coordinator since late 2015 and has worked with a variety of stakeholders over the years.
Reflecting upon his work with VSP, Bill notes that, "With the assistance of Conservation Commission staff, leadership, Technical Panel member agency staff, Statewide Advisory Committee representatives, county commissioners, county staff, and conservation district staff, the program has seen the creation of 27 VSP county-wide work plans and the successful implementation of those plans through their first five-year reporting cycle. The farmers, ranchers, and cooperators who implement voluntary best management practices have been the main driver behind the ability of VSP to protect critical areas while maintaining agricultural viability, and their continued participation will be the key to success into the future."
Bill brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the Disaster Assistance Program. Since 2007, he has been responsible for disaster response coordination between the Conservation Commission, public, conservation districts, and state and local government, and for emergency planning and continuity of operations for SCC. In addition, he has experience writing grants for FEMA and NRCS for disaster related funds and has developed trainings and other resources in this arena. SCC is excited to have Bill in this new role.

Meet Interim VSP Coordinator, Sarah Wilcox
Sarah Wilcox will be taking on the role of Interim VSP Coordinator. She looks forward to assisting with the transition as SCC begins the process to hire the next VSP coordinator.
Sarah has become very familiar with VSP over the past year and a half, working with program communications. She brings over fifteen years of experience as a project coordinator and community engagement specialist supporting agricultural viability, working for and with conservation districts, citizens, farmers, non-profits, and agencies in Washington state. Farming is in Sarah's past, present, and future. She grew up on a small-scale sheep farm and her family owns and operates a fifth generation, organic and cage-free, egg farm in Roy, WA.
