We sent out an announcement on July 5 that Natural Resource Investment (NRI) funds are available for districts to apply for (which they are and you can - woo hoo!) However, we linked to the old guidelines and decision tree. Below you will find the same message from July 5, but with the up to date documents linked. A reminder that the cost share limit has increased to $100,000 per landowner per fiscal year, this is across all SCC programs.
Our apologies for the confusion. Please reach out to your Regional Manager if you have any questions about NRI for the FY23-25 Biennium.
With a new legislative appropriation of $4,000,000 for the 23-25 biennium, each conservation district may apply for up to $81,222 in Natural Resource Investments (NRI) funding. Conservation districts may submit the grant addendum form to apply for this funding at any time. A maximum of 25% of the total funding award of NRI funds may be used for technical assistance activities such as planning, project design, engineering, permitting, project implementation oversight, project management and administration, travel, and reporting. See the sample grant addendum for reference.
The addendums will be reviewed every two weeks by staff as they are submitted. Please do not incur any expenditures until you have received a formal funding award notice from our financial staff.
Each district’s share of the funding will be held for 90 days, until September 30, and can be held for a longer period as long as the district is working in good faith with their Regional Manager to identify eligible projects.
Please review the updated Grants and Procedure Manual on the Grants, Contracts, and Finance webpage under the 'Procedure Manual' tab – the updated manual has a new chapter on District Implemented Projects (DIP). The NRI programmatic guidelines can be reviewed here - NRI Programmatic Guidelines. We have also developed NRI decision tree documents for districts to use when determining when to use cost share or the DIP process. We also have on our grants page an optional NRI Landowner Agreement Template when using DIP.
Please reach out to your Regional Manager if you have any questions at all.
