Washington State Ag Land Database
The June 2021 webinar presentation on the Washington State Ag Land Database is now available on the Conservation Commission’s website. The database combines land ownership, land use, and assessment information with physical characteristics of the land to develop economic, social, and environmental metrics about the agriculture land base across the state.

New Resource for Navigating Federal Easement Program
The Land Trust Alliance’s ACEP-ALE Action Center provides information about the federal agricultural conservation easement program. The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program – Agricultural Land Easement (ACEP-ALE) managed by the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA NRCS) provides matching funds to purchase conservation easements on farms, ranches, and grasslands.
Farmland Protection Policy Act
The Farmland Information Center at American Farmland Trust (AFT) recently published a new factsheet on the Farmland Protection Policy Act (FPPA). The FPPA minimizes the extent federal programs contribute to unnecessary conversion of farmland to non-ag uses. The factsheet includes basic information about the law and the acres of farmland proposed for conversion by federal agencies from 2016 to 2020.
