GMHB RemandOn July 7, 2020, the City of Sammamish issued a combined SEPA Determination of Significance (DS) and Scoping Notice for the proposed Comprehensive Plan and municipal code amendments relating to transportation level of service. The City will prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS), which initiates a 21-day scoping period for the EIS. Learn more here, or find out how to comment on the scope of the EIS here.

Cone Zone

These road work projects are scheduled in Sammamish for the week of July 10-17.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY.

Summer Construction Hours are 7am to 8pm Monday - Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, and no work on Sundays and holidays.

4th Street: Streetscaping and Paving

On SE 4th St., the top layer of pavement has been placed. Our last significant item of work is to install the raised crosswalk for the future Town Center. Other outstanding work includes adjusting utility manholes, finishing the landscaping, pavement marking and signing. Large vehicles should continue to avoid the roadway. Flaggers continue to manage traffic in a shared lane during hours of work. Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During hours of work for non-paving days, two-way traffic will be sharing a lane controlled by flaggers. During non-work hours, traffic will be travelling in normal lanes.

Ditch & Drainage Maintenance

The City will be performing ditch maintenance and completing small drainage projects in select neighborhoods this summer. Impacted residents should have received a work notice in the mail. Ditch maintenance begins July 13 and is expected to last into August. Working hours are during normal construction hours. Ditch maintenance includes ditch cleaning, minor tree limbing, and culvert cleaning.

Arterial Pavement Marking (King County)

King County is performing pavement marking citywide. Work will progress depending on the weather. Working hours are mostly during daytime normal construction hours (7am – 8pm). Remaining work includes thermoplastic marking and installation of raised pavement markings (RPMs). Pavement striping is a moving operation; please be alert and maintain your distance from striping vehicles.

WSDOT (King County)

WSDOT will be working on the culverts on SR 202. This location is outside the City limits to the east, towards Fall City (east of the Duthie Hill Intersection).

There will be a single lane closure with flaggers on SR 202 on Tuesday, July 21, from 9am - 3pm for utility relocation work. Traffic will still be allowed through the sites under flagger control during the lane closure.

Curb Ramp Retrofit Project

We have completed the curb ramp work on 228th! Over the next two weeks (or so, weather permitting), the contractor will be installing irrigation sleeves across 228th. We will soon finish the crossings in the southbound lanes and will soon begin going up the northbound lanes. Traffic will be down to one lane during work hours.

2020 Pavement Program - Overlay

This work begins next week at two locations in the City:

East Lake Sammamish Place between both intersections with East Lake Sammamish Parkway

With a planned start date of Tuesday, July 14, the site will be prepped, followed by patching and grinding work. The site is expected to be paved by July 24th.

228th Ave SE between SE 24th St and SE 8th St.

Workers will begin lowering utilities on Monday, July 13. It is expected to take about two weeks to lower utilities, after which workers will start grinding the site. Expect a lane closure with flaggers near the work being performed.

Issaquah-Fall City Road (IFCR)

Issaquah-Fall City Road remains closed for construction. Local access will be maintained during the closure. The closure between 247th Place SE and Klahanie Dr. SE is expected to last through December 2020.

  • The roundabout at SE Issaquah-Beaver Lake Rd./256th Ave. SE/SE 32nd St/E Beaver Lake Dr. SE is operational. Only final touch-ups are remaining, which are being scheduled once all the parts arrive. The sidewalk around the intersection will be replaced this month. The work will include relocating existing ramps and placement of new concrete and curb in around the roundabout to better improve access for pedestrians to the crossing locations.
  • Construction of the bridge in underway. The contractor has completed the columns for each of the bridge sections. Next, the contractor will begin work on the top concrete caps that connect each of the columns. Once those are complete, the bridge girders will be delivered to the site for installation. The girders are expected to begin delivery in 2 weeks.
  • Between 242nd and 247th Ave. SE, traffic has been shifted to the south side of the roadway. Work continues along the north half of the roadway in this area. The contractor and the utility companies will be working on relocations in these limits. Grading work and  concrete curb and sidewalk placement will continue through July. The contractor will continue to work in the intersection of 247th Ave. SE near the middle school. Placement of asphalt is expected to occur at the end of July.

Please note that during peak delays, using the project detour route, Issaquah Beaver Lake Road to Issaquah Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times. For more information and project updates, please visit the project portal on Connect Sammamish.  Please remember to obey all the stop signs and speed limits in the area.

Project work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bridge crews between Klahanie Dr. SE and 247th continue to begin at 7:00 a.m., following the required health check-up. Road crews between 242nd and 247th continue to start at 7:30 a.m., following the required health check-up.

Issaquah-Fall City Road Phase 2

Preliminary design is starting for traffic and safety improvements on SE Issaquah Fall City Road/SE Duthie Hill Road from Klahanie Drive SE to Issaquah Beaver Lake Road. For the next few weeks, surveyors will be on the roadway gathering information for design. Traffic will not be impacted, but please drive with caution to keep yourself and the workers safe.
