Welcome, Dave Rudat!

Happy Retirement, Marlene!

The very first employee for the City of Sammamish, Marlene Dunham, retires today after more than 20 years of service. After residents voted to incorporate, she was the first person employed to do the fundamental tasks of writing the checks and the making phone calls necessary to turn us into an actual city. When she began, "City Hall" was in an office space near what is today Trader Joe's. She retires as the City's Contract Administrator. Thank you for all of your years of service to the City, Marlene, and happy retirement!

Cone Zone

These are the road work projects scheduled in Sammamish for the week of February 21-28.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

Work hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified.

4th Street: Sidewalks, Storm Drains, and Streetscaping

The contractor is completing the storm tank installation near 228th Ave. SE and will soon be starting to work on constructing the new right-turn lane for eastbound traffic at the 228th Ave. SE intersection. At the west end of the project, a retaining wall will be installed for sidewalk along 218th Ave. SE. Other active work includes installation of irrigation and streetlighting, and localized areas of sanitary sewer construction. In the upcoming weeks, work will start on 225th Pl. SE and the paver-block sidewalks within the Town Center project area. Flaggers continue to manage traffic through the work zone. Typical work hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm.

228th Catch Basin Repair

Work will continue on 228th between Discovery Elementary and Skyline High School to repair the catch basins along the roadway. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in the work location. Work is occurring along the northbound direction.

Verizon 5G Drilling on 228th

A contractor has begun installing conduit by directional drilling along the northbound 228th Ave. SE sidewalk between SE 24th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.

  • The northbound curb lane may be affected by lane closures for equipment to access work areas, which may also close the sidewalks in some places.
  • Sidewalk detours will be provided for pedestrians to navigate around the closures.
  • Signalized intersections will have off-duty uniformed patrol officers onsite.
  • This work is anticipated to last approximately two more weeks.

Issaquah-Fall City Road (IFCR)

The layout for the temporary roundabout at SE Issaquah-Beaver Lake Rd./256th Ave. SE/SE 32nd St./& E Beaver Lake Dr. SE has been completed. The roundabout will remain open while curb, truck apron, paint lines, lighting, & pedestrian crossing work is completed in the near future.

Work is currently occurring primarily in front of Pacific Cascade Middle School (PCMS):

  • Through 3/27/20, PSE Electric, Comcast, Century Link, & Verizon are relocating to a joint utility trench
  • PSE Electric, Comcast, & Century Link will relocate existing poles and lines to allow the bridge construction to begin
  • Storm drainage installation continues
  • Construction continues on the new student walkway leading up to the front entrance of PCMS
  • A buried roadway section in the southern shoulder of Issaquah-Fall City Road will be dug up and removed

Please note that during peak delays, using the project detour route, Issaquah-Beaver Lake Road to Issaquah-Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times.

Citywide Guardrail Project

The Citywide Guardrail Project began last week. Work for next week includes the north end of East Lake Sammamish Parkway, starting near the Sammamish Landing, working north towards the City limits.

Cable-Laying on 244th at Klahanie

A contractor has begun performing a directional drill job to lay approximately 6000 feet of cable on 244th at Klahanie, in front of the Klahanie Information Center. It will take approximately three weeks for the conduit to be installed, with patching of sidewalks and asphalt to follow. Permanent restoration of sidewalks and streets will follow shortly thereafter, and we will post those dates when we have them.

2019 Intersection Improvement Project (Flashing Yellow Arrow Installation)

The general contractor will continue work to install flashing yellow arrows. Please note that work was interrupted due to earlier weather conditions and may be subject to delays from further inclement weather. Upcoming intersections that will be modified include:
