At their July 7 meeting, The Northwest Seaport Alliance Managing Members will take action on two project authorization items related to the replacement of the Jack Block Park pier in West Seattle. The pier at Jack Block Park has been closed to the public for safety reasons. The project will demolish the existing pier, construct a new pier at the park and repair the adjacent plaza.
Managing Members will also take action on two project authorization items for improvements to Pierce County Terminal at the Port of Tacoma. The first item is related to design work to repave the transfer zone at PCT, including improvements to stormwater treatment at the terminal. The second action item will fund the design work needed to expand refrigerated container capacity at PCT by nearly 200 containers, along with the associated electrical infrastructure.
During the meeting, Managing Members will also vote to approve $1.1 million in total funding to investigate erosion at the northeast section of Terminal 46 near the Seattle Public Utilities King Street Outfall and make necessary repairs, including repairing the seawall and supporting footer.
In addition, Managing Members will hear updates related to 2026 second quarter grants and the NWSA Gateway Velocity Initiative. View the full agenda.
The July 7 public session begins at noon. Meetings are streamed live on the NWSA's website.

Full imports and exports via the NWSA gateway increased 6.8% and 3.3%, respectively, in May. Import growth was fueled by an early peak season as BCOs shipped ahead of proposed Section 301 tariffs in addition to muted volumes in May 2025 following liberation day.
Full exports in May performed better than the five-year average, increasing 1.6% for the month and 3.2% year-to-date. May 2026 total container volume (international and domestic) reached 238,021 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), down 5.1% compared to May 2025.
The NWSA breakbulk volume increased 18.4% through May due to strong industrial demand. Year-to-date breakbulk cargo has reached 163,533 metric tons. Read More
As teams and fans from across the globe visit Seattle for the FIFA World Cup 2026, The Northwest Seaport Alliance is celebrating the international spirit of the tournament with a unique display at Terminal 46.
Throughout the tournament, shipping containers raised on the terminal’s cranes have featured a central message, “Welcome to the Pacific Northwest,” flanked by the flags of the two countries competing in the next match at Seattle Stadium. The flags are changed following each match, creating an evolving display welcoming visitors and celebrating the nations, cultures and communities coming to Seattle during the World Cup.
The display highlights the important role maritime trade plays in connecting the Pacific Northwest with countries around the world. See more photos of the display.
The Northwest Seaport Alliance, the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma launched a new “Northwest Clean Ports” website in June designed to provide clear, accessible information and track progress on efforts to reduce air and climate emissions from seaport-related operations.
The website, NWCleanPorts.com, is a first-of-its-kind regional web portal. It is a consolidated repository of the goals, strategies and actions across the three port entities, aimed at lowering maritime emissions, improving regional air quality, reducing environmental health disparities in near-port communities and contributing to local and global climate solutions.
The Northwest Clean Ports site features a progress dashboard that highlights accomplishments to date, outlines near-term actions and milestones from each Port’s implementation plan, and tracks the status of individual initiatives. It also provides a comprehensive overview of efforts across maritime sectors – from the big ships calling on our gateway daily to the heavy-duty trucks and railcars that haul cargo to and from out of terminals in Seattle and Tacoma - along with shared strategies to address challenges and advance sustainable outcomes across the gateway.
