At their April 7 meeting, The Northwest Seaport Alliance Managing Members will consider a request authorizing funding totaling $750,000 for work associated with the Terminal 5 Back Reach Electrical Removal Project. The project involves removing electrical equipment, including two transformers, that impede operations at the terminal and rerouting power from a transformer that will be removed.
Managing Members will also conduct a review of NWSA CEO John Wolfe and take potential action regarding compensation.
In addition, Managing Members will hear first readings for proposed resolutions adopting Municipal Research Services Center (MRSC) Rosters and to amend the Delegation of Authority Master Policy to implement the MRSC Rosters.
During the meeting, Managing Members will also be taking dual action on a request seeking approval to finalize agreements with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and the Suquamish Indian Tribe. The agreements support safe and efficient vessel movement while protecting tribal fishing rights and waters.
Commissioners will also vote to approve the final settlement of the Terminal 25/30 dispute with SSA Terminals, LLC regarding terminal damage, and hear a briefing on lessons learned during the Terminal 5 Modernization Program. View the full agenda.
The April 7 public session begins at noon. Meetings are streamed live on the NWSA’s website.

Sen. Patty Murray joined the NWSA in Seattle this week to highlight millions in new federal funding for port infrastructure projects supporting cleaner energy and long-term economic growth for Seattle’s working waterfront.
With the help of Sen. Murray, The Northwest Seaport Alliance will receive federal funding for projects that will position our gateway to increase cargo volume and reduce emissions from port operations.
This includes $8 million in congressionally directed spending to expand shore power at Seattle’s Terminal 18 so ships can “plug in” and use clean electricity while at berth. $2.3 million in federal funding was also secured for the Army Corps of Engineers to complete the design of the West Waterway deepening project, which aims to enable Seattle’s Terminal 5 to more efficiently serve the largest container ships in North America.
In addition, Sen. Murray discussed the importance of increasing the funding level for the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund and securing language to ensure our ports get their fair share of the fund. Learn more.
The Northwest Seaport Alliance welcomed another maiden voyage to the gateway this week, the MSC Boston in the Seattle Harbor. The new vessel was delivered in 2026 and has a nominal capacity of 11,400 TEUs. NWSA staff presented the ship captain with a maiden voyage plaque while it was berthed at Terminal 5.
The MSC Boston is part of MSC’s Chinook service, which has a Seattle first port of call. The service calls Cai Mep, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao and Busan.
