 Redmond Appoints New City Attorney
REDMOND, WA - At last night’s meeting, the Redmond City Council approved Mayor Angela Birney’s appointment of Rebecca Mueller as the City of Redmond’s new city attorney. Mueller starts her new position today, Aug. 5.
“Since joining the City of Redmond, Rebecca has consistently demonstrated her exceptional integrity, expertise, and commitment to justice,” said Mayor Angela Birney. “Her appointment to city attorney is a well-earned promotion recognizing her unwavering dedication to serving our community. I have full confidence in her leadership.”
Mueller has 14 years of legal experience in the public sector and has been with the City of Redmond since 2017. She has served as the supervising attorney in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office since 2019. In addition to her leadership and prosecution work with the City, she has worked on projects that involve code enforcement, civil forfeitures, city ordinances, and legal guidance for other city departments.
Mueller came to Redmond from Tucson, AZ, where she supervised the Pima County Attorney’s Office, Misdemeanor Crimes Unit, as well as prosecuted her own felony trial caseload of property crimes, DUIs, and violent offenses. She holds a Bachelor of Science in business economics from the University of Arizona, and a Juris Doctorate, with a Health Law Certificate, from the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law. Mueller is a member of both the Arizona and Washington State Bar Associations.
“I am honored for this opportunity and very much look forward to offering my experience to the City of Redmond as city attorney,” said Mueller. “I was immediately drawn to Redmond’s vibrancy when starting with the City in 2017 and am excited to contribute to Redmond’s continuing growth through my new role.”
