Be Aware of Changes to Utility Billing Payment Options

Be Aware of Changes to Utility Billing Payment Options

Online autopay with an electronic check, credit card, or debit card will end on Jan. 1, 2025. The City of Redmond can no longer support the option to make recurring payments through autopay because the cost has increased significantly in recent years. Customers using online autopay with electronic checks, credit cards, or debit cards should consider switching to direct debit autopay. To sign up for direct debit from your checking or savings account, fill out this direct debit application (PDF) and return it to City of Redmond Utility Billing along with a voided check or an ACH letter from your bank. Please contact Redmond Utility Billing at 425-556-2152 or email questions to UtilityBilling@redmond.gov.

New Right of Way Use Fees Take Effect

New Right of Way Use Fees Take Effect

A new fee system for the extended closure of the public right of way (ROW) by private businesses, such as construction, begins this week on Jan. 1. Previously, the City allowed the closure of the public right of way for the benefit of private businesses without charging a use fee or excise tax. Now, to balance the needs of private businesses and the needs of the community, the City will collect a ROW use fee and the state-required excise tax for extended closures of the public right of way.
