Over the last 24 hours the Redmond community has sustained significant damage, from fallen trees, downed power lines, and dangerous debris scattered throughout the City. The power outages continue to affect thousands of households and businesses, and many may not see relief for several more hours or days.
The City is working around the clock to address these challenges. Our Public Works and Parks teams are out clearing roads, repairing critical infrastructure, and ensuring that emergency services can continue to operate. We are coordinating with our local partners, including Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and Comcast, to restore power and communication services as quickly as possible. While recovery may take time, please know that your safety and well-being are our top priorities.
To that end, I am declaring a local emergency to expedite and implement rapid emergency contracts. This will allow our city to quickly obtain the needed resources for recovery and cleanup.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated first responders, city staff, and all emergency personnel who are working tirelessly and beyond our city limits to ensure the safety of Redmond and our neighboring communities.
To keep everyone informed and supported, we have several key resources available:

Thank you for your patience, resilience, and ongoing support of one another.
Sincerely, Mayor Birney
