Learn How Redmond is Implementing Universal Design to Improve Accessibility and Inclusion

Learn How Redmond is Implementing Universal Design to Improve Accessibility and Inclusion

As part of Redmond 2050, the City is focusing on how we can be a more inclusive community – including how we can design and build our spaces and places to be more accessible to community members of all ages and abilities. Community collaboration resulted in many changes, including policy and code updates to incorporate the concepts of Universal Design. Code revisions include updates to accessible parking and parking garage standards, design requirements and standards, and a few new incentives. A list of community desired projects will be used in budget discussions for several years and include items such as increasing the supply of accessible housing, implementing inclusive wayfinding and signage, and updating how we build our public spaces and sidewalks.

New Card Service Fees Begin December 2

New Card Service Fees Begin December 2

The City of Redmond will start charging service fees of 2.75% plus $0.30 (30 cents) for Parks and Recreation registrations made with credit and debit card payments online, over the phone, and over the counter beginning Dec. 2, 2024. Previously, the City paid these fees for the customer at the City’s expense. The cost has increased significantly in recent years but the City does not want to remove the popular payment option. The fee is being implemented to cover the cost for customers who would like to continue to use this payment option. Credit and debit card convenience fees took effect for utility billing in October. Fees for other city payment systems will take effect next year. Customers who wish to avoid the fee may pay with check or cash by mail or in person.

Give Blood to Save Lives

Give Blood to Save Lives

The City is partnering with Bloodworks Northwest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, to host a blood drive in the Redmond City Hall parking lot (15670 NE 85th Street). The holidays are often filled with togetherness, gratitude, and generosity, but for our community blood supply, it’s one of the toughest times of the year when fewer people have time to donate. It’s critical we take the time keep our blood supply strong and stable for the people who need help. On donation day, look for the Bloodmobile, and please arrive with your photo ID.
