Learn How Redmond 2050 Focuses on Equity and Inclusion
During the development of the Redmond 2050 Comprehensive Plan, community members identified ways that our community can be more inclusive and welcoming, with a built environment that is comfortable for people of all ages, cultures, and abilities. These community ideas are reflected in recommendations to remove exclusionary barriers in codes, adopt new cultural districts, focus on universal design and accessibility, and more. The 2025-2026 preliminary budget continues an emphasis on a welcoming community with many projects proposed that reflect these community conversations. These include parks wayfinding enhancements, ADA improvements, a city annex in the Overlake Intercultural District, an update to the Cultural Arts Plan, an inclusive design study planned for 2027-2028, and much more.

New Card Service Fees Begin December 2
The City of Redmond will start charging service fees of 2.75% plus $0.30 (30 cents) for Parks and Recreation registrations made with credit and debit card payments online, over the phone, and over the counter beginning Dec. 2, 2024. Previously, the City paid these fees for the customer at the City’s expense. The cost has increased significantly in recent years but the City does not want to remove the popular payment option. The fee is being implemented to cover the cost for customers who would like to continue to use this payment option. Credit and debit card convenience fees took effect for utility billing in October. Fees for other city payment systems will take effect next year. Customers who wish to avoid the fee may pay with check or cash by mail or in person.
