Redmond Police and Fire departments remind the community that fireworks are not allowed within Redmond city limits on Independence Day or any time of year (Redmond Municipal Code: 9.26.020). To report the use of illegal fireworks, please call the City’s non-emergency number at 425-556-2500.

City facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Fire, police, and other critical services will remain fully operational. Have a happy and safe holiday.

Honoring Disability Pride Month

Honoring Disability Pride Month

July is recognized as Disability Pride Month, a time for meaningful reflection and acknowledgment of the accomplishments and ongoing challenges existing within the disability community. In addition to recognizing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that was signed into law on July 26, 1990, this month is a chance to advocate on behalf of the disability community for life experiences they deserve but are often denied.

Learn About Right-of-Way Use Fee Proposal

Learn About Right-of-Way Use Fee Proposal

Redmond is considering implementing a fee system for the extended closure of public right of way (ROW) by private businesses beginning in January 2025. Previously, the City has allowed the closure of public right of way for the benefit of private businesses without charging a use fee or excise tax. Private use of ROW for construction activity or outdoor dining limits public access and enjoyment of sidewalks, landscapes, bike lanes, parking, and travel lanes. To balance the needs of private businesses with the needs of the community, the City would collect a ROW use fee and the state-required excise tax for extended closures of the public right of way.

Learn about the proposal and share feedback

Note: This is a correction to last week’s City eNews, which inaccurately described the proposed fee as a final policy.
