Bike Everywhere Day

Celebrate Bike Everywhere Month

May is Bike Everywhere Month! There are three ways to join in on the fun:

  1. Use the new City of Redmond Bike Map to find a route you have never ridden before. This new online resource shows riders of all levels the different types of bike lanes throughout the City so riders can customize their route and explore within their comfort level.
  2. Join the Redmond Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee for their Transit Open House from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, May 13, at Redmond City Hall (15670 NE 85th Street). Learn about how to get to light rail, different transit options in Redmond, and ask questions about transit or ORCA cards.
  3. On Bike Everywhere Day, Friday, May 17, ride by the City of Redmond’s Celebration Station, located at the intersection of the East Lake Sammamish Trail and the Marymoor Connector Trail. Staff will be there with snacks and prizes during your morning commute.
Safer Streets

Help Make Roads Safer

Join us at noon on Saturday, May 11, for a walk in the Education Hill neighborhood to improve the City’s transportation safety. During this two-hour walk, participants will discuss safety concerns for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and other road users. This walk is part of the City’s Safety Action Plan and Community Road Safety Assessment, which will create tools to strengthen our community’s approach to roadway safety and prevent serious harm. Let's work together to make our roads safer! Registration is required and high school community service hours are eligible. All walking speeds will be accommodated and there will be a shorter walk available for those concerned about length or time.

Keep Our Streams Clean

Keep Our Streams Clean

Protect Redmond’s stormwater and groundwater by always cleaning up after your pet. Decomposing pet waste releases ammonia and other harmful substances that are carried by rainwater into our untreated stormwater system, groundwater, and streams, harming our ecosystem. Pet waste stations are available in many of our parks, making it easy to keep our spaces clean and safe for everyone in Redmond. It’s also the neighborly thing to do.

Migratory Bird Day

Protect Insects to Protect Birds

Migratory birds are pollinators who play a vital role in keeping our ecosystem and food production systems healthy, and they rely on insects to give them the energy for their long journeys. This Saturday, May 11, is World Migratory Bird Day, an opportunity to help keep birds and bugs happy and healthy with your own choices.

Here are some quick ideas for getting started:

  • Plant native flowers, shrubs, and trees
  • Avoid using pesticides or chemical fertilizers
  • Support organic farming
  • Prevent water pollution
  • Appreciate the good work insects do
