Ride the Rails to Redmond!

Light rail service on the Eastside begins this Saturday, April 27! Join the opening day celebrations, starting with a ribbon cutting at Bellevue Downtown Station, followed by special events at all eight stations from South Bellevue to Redmond Technology. From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., there will be family-fun activities, music, food, giveaways, and more.

Celebrate Redmond’s Trees

Recently, Redmond was named a 2023 Tree City USA. This recognition marks Redmond’s 25th year as part of the Tree City USA community. Additionally, this coming Friday, April 26, Mayor Birney will proclaim as Redmond Arbor Day. The City of Redmond wishes to encourage community awareness and participation in efforts to preserve, protect, and enrich our environment through the planting and care of trees.

Redmond Zoning Code Rewrite

Learn About Updates to the Redmond Zoning Code

The City continues to update development regulations in coordination with Redmond 2050 updates and Redmond Zoning Code Rewrite. The next phase involves:

  1. Conformance with state legislation, such as permit streamlining per Senate Bill 5290 and design review clarity per House Bill 1293 
  2. Amendments for process improvement, clarity, and streamlining:

The Planning Commission is anticipated to begin review of parts one and two in May. Drafts of Downtown Design Standards and other Downtown regulations will be available for comments during the second and third quarters of this year.
