Teen Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Redmond
REDMOND, WA - Redmond Police arrested a 15-year-old male on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 40-year-old husband and father of three.
The incident occurred on Dec. 6 around 2:35 p.m. in the 17600 block of NE 24th Street in Redmond.
The teen was behind the wheel of a stolen 2007 gray Nissan Pathfinder, driving recklessly at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit and killed the victim, who was on the sidewalk.
The driver and passengers exited the disabled vehicle and fled on foot after the crash.
Detectives identified the driver and passengers based on security footage, witness reports, and thorough investigations. Community members in the area played a crucial role in helping law enforcement locate the suspects.
“Redmond officers and detectives have worked diligently to identify and apprehend the suspects in this horrific and senseless incident,” said Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe. “Hopefully, the rest of the criminal justice system can ensure justice for the victim and help provide closure for the family.”
The suspect was booked into King County Detention Center pending charges of Vehicular Homicide.
