Help Shape Redmond's Parks, Trails, and Recreation

Are you a Redmond resident and have a passion for parks, trails, and recreation? The Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission is accepting applications for two youth advocates and two commission volunteer openings. The commission is a great place to learn more about local government, provide feedback on public policies and programs, and offers opportunities to participate in other city events and engage with community members.

Rainbow Pride Crosswalk

Celebrate Pride with Redmond

Later this month, a rainbow crosswalk will be installed midblock on Cleveland Street, adjacent to Downtown Park, in anticipation of the Redmond Pride event on Sept. 2. Details about a temporary street closure for the installation will be shared soon. To create the artwork, the City commissioned Jing Jing Wang, who is an artist, Redmond resident, former Redmond Arts and Culture Commission Youth Advocate, and in their own words a proud queer advocate. This painted crosswalk will bring visibility to and symbolize Redmond’s support of the LGBTQIA+ community, and indicates that anyone living, working, or visiting Redmond is welcome.

Outdoor Dining

Share Your Feedback About Outdoor Dining

The City is reviewing current outdoor dining options for businesses. In 2020, the City authorized businesses to construct on-street and sidewalk expanded dining facilities in response to pandemic-related restrictions on indoor business operations. The ordinance that authorized these temporary facilities has now expired. Community input is welcome, as the City explores whether to accommodate permanent expansions of outdoor dining, and in what form.

Grass Lawn Turf Replacement

Learn About Turf Replacement at Grass Lawn

Today, work begins to replace the artificial turf on Multi-Use Field 2 with a safer and more environmentally friendly option. In addition, cricket lines will be added to the new surface, which were a need identified through research and engagement with field users, other stakeholders, and recreation staff. Please be aware that during installation, the parking lot on 148th Avenue NE will be heavily impacted, as well as the pedestrian path from that parking lot to Multi-Use Field 2 and the field itself. Construction is expected to be completed this fall.
