Celebrate National Bike Month
In this month’s Our Stories Redmond Connections video, Mayor Birney and Go Redmond staff share ideas for celebrating National Bike Month. Redmond has a rich history of being a bicycle-friendly community. With nearly 40 miles of trails and a 75-mile bicycle system, along with incredible bike shops to assist you with all your peddling needs, there is something for everyone to enjoy on wheels. Read Mayor Birney’s Bike Month proclamation, and if you want to learn more about something we do here at the City, email communications@redmond.gov with your questions.
Join Council President Jessica Forsythe and Vice President Vanessa Kritzer as OneRedmond hosts Coffee with Leaders from 8 – 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at Victor’s Coffee (7993 Gilman Street, Redmond). Stop by, grab a cup of coffee, ask questions, share your thoughts, or just say hi. Registration for a fee is required through OneRedmond.
An independent research organization has completed Redmond’s annual community survey and presented the results to City Council. The community survey provides statistically valid community feedback about what the City is doing well and what can be improved. The results from this annual survey help inform city decision-making and performance measures.
Mayor Birney has proclaimed May 7 - 13, 2023, as Affordable Housing Week. Increasing housing choices and working toward solutions for housing types across all income levels is a strategy in Redmond’s Housing Action Plan. All people should have access to safe, healthy, and affordable homes.
Drinking Water Week, May 7 - 13, celebrates water systems and operators that excel in providing their customers with safe and reliable drinking water. The City of Redmond's water operations works continuously to do just that. They also provide exceptional customer service by monitoring water quality daily, responding to leaks quickly, and performing preventative maintenance on the water system. Drinking Water Operations is on call 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies.
City of Redmond Police and Fire Departments will host a fun and free educational event, open to all from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Redmond City Hall, 15670 NE 85thStreet. The Spring Safety Fair will include demonstrations of police and fire activities, fire sprinkler effectiveness, and CPR, as well as emergency preparedness information and police and fire vehicles.
