Redmond Stories

Enjoy Redmond Stories

Every day, interesting and impactful things are happening in our community. Through redmond.gov/Stories, we’ll be sharing some of those with you throughout the next year. To kick it off, read about a program that is making a difference for people in our community who need housing, learn about city staff who maintain vital city infrastructure like the roads we travel and the pipes that deliver clean drinking water, and hear about the people and inspiration behind the recently installed utility box artwork Downtown. If you have a story to share or know of someone in Redmond making a difference, please share your ideas.

Tree Recycling

Learn How to Recycle Your Tree for Free

Those living in homes in Redmond with curbside garbage collection can recycle their holiday tree at no cost. During the first two weeks of January, place trees up to six feet tall next to your yard waste cart. Flocked trees (trees with fake snow) must go in the garbage. After the first two weeks of January, trees must be cut into four-foot or smaller segments and placed fully inside your yard waste cart to be collected at no additional cost. Other tree recycling options can be found using the What Goes Where searchable directory.

Water Meter Box

Keep Your Meter Box Clear and Accessible

Property owners are required to maintain a two-foot area around their water meter box and clearance six feet above the meter box. This minimum area creates the safe accessibility necessary for city staff to access the meter box for maintenance and replacement, when needed. Please do not obstruct access from the road, park cars near, or place anything on top of the meter box. If your meter box does not meet the minimum clearance requirements, the City will contact you and request that the minimum area needed is established.
