Experience Redmond Lights This Season
Redmond Lights, a celebration of Redmond’s diverse winter traditions through art and light, begins this week on Dec. 1. The free, month-long celebration in Downtown Park can be enjoyed nightly through Jan. 4. An exciting new part of the event this year are Friday Night Celebrations, which will feature live entertainment, booths, and various activities on Dec. 2, 9, and 16.
Be Prepared for Winter Weather and Prevent Frozen Pipes
With low temperatures and snow in the forecast, follow @CityofRedmond on social media and visit redmond.gov/Weather for weather-related updates and resources.
Freezing temperatures can wreak havoc on your plumbing. Use these helpful tips to avoid damage from frozen pipes.
Explore Sustainable Heating and Cooling Opportunities
If you are looking to save on your energy bills this winter or get prepared for next summer, join the Energy Smart Eastside campaign and upgrade your property’s heating and cooling system to an energy efficient heat pump. Attend a one-hour online workshop on Nov. 30 or Dec. 13, to learn about heat pump technology, utility incentives, and financing opportunities. Attendees will receive an offer for an equipment discount, as well as an introduction to a pre-selected certified installer.
Provide Input on King County’s New Transfer Station Location
King County's Solid Waste Division has identified two sites in Kirkland and one in Woodinville as potential locations for a new, modern transfer station, as part of the Northeast Recycling and Transfer Station Project. Take part in the project scoping process by attending a community meeting on Dec. 1 (in Kirkland), Dec. 7 (online), or Dec. 8 (in Woodinville), and submitting comments by Jan. 17, 2023. Share with the County what you would like to see studied as they prepare the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Redmond staff recently replaced a 20-year-old traffic signal controller cabinet at Redmond Way & NE 70th St. with a newer one with a built-in battery backup system. This new cabinet will allow the signal to operate during power outages. The backup system also ensures that staff always have access to the traffic communications network to monitor multiple signalized intersections in the area.
