Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond is seeking applicants for its Human Services Commission, which has one seat available. Individuals for this vacancy must live or work inside Redmond city limits with a zip code 98052 or can live in unincorporated King County with a zip code 98053. Candidates should be interested in a broad spectrum of human service topics including basic needs, health care, counseling, domestic violence, and family support. Commission meetings are mandatory and held virtually on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Once the COVID-19 state of emergency is lifted, meetings will be held in person at Redmond City Hall. All board and commission members are volunteers.

The Commission’s role is to advise the Mayor and City Council on general human services topics and to make specific funding recommendations as part of the City’s budget process every two years. Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the topics, a willingness to learn, and a passion for working to strengthen the City’s effectiveness in addressing these topics. Please note that individuals who work for or serve on the board of directors of a human service agency receiving funding from the City are not eligible for consideration.
