Celebra El Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana 

La semana pasada, durante la reunión de los concejales de la Ciudad la alcaldesa Birney proclamo del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, 2021, como el Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana en Redmond. Por primera vez en la ciudad la proclamación se leyó en ingles por la alcaldesa y en español por Monica Trujillo, fundadora de Padres Unidos Por la Educación en la secundaria Redmond. También aceptando la proclamación estuvieron presentes representantes del grupo estudiantil Latinos Unidos de la secundaria Redmond, presidenta Itzel Lorenzo y tesorero Diego Gonzalez.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month 

During last week’s City Council meeting, Mayor Birney proclaimed September 15 – October 15, 2021 as National Hispanic Heritage Month in RedmondFor the first time in the City, the proclamation was read in English by the Mayor and in Spanish by Monica Trujillo, the founder of Padres Unidos Por la Educación at Redmond High School. Also accepting the proclamation from Latinos Unidos at Redmond High School were President Itzel Lorenzo and Treasurer Diego Gonzalez.

Idylwood Dock

Enjoy New Dock at Idylwood Park

The Idylwood Park dock will be closed to the public for approximately two weeks in mid-October as work begins to install a new aluminum dockImprovements include a non-slip surface, ADA compliant handrails for fishing activities, and a new swim ladderThe new dock replaces the original structure built in the 1970’s.

Recently, a group of young entrepreneurs who participated in the Redmond Children’s Business Fair this summer visited Redmond City Hall. Mayor Birney talked with the children about her role as Mayor, how Redmond’s government works, and enjoyed answering questions from the group.
