Redmond Appoints New Finance Director

Redmond, WA – At last night’s meeting, the Redmond City Council approved Mayor Angela Birney’s appointment of Chip Corder as the City’s new finance director.
“I am happy to welcome Chip Corder as the newest member of Redmond’s leadership team,” said Mayor Birney. “Chip brings a wealth of knowledge and successful leadership experience that I know will be a tremendous asset to the City and our community. I look forward to continuing our work on the City’s vision and mission with Chip positioned in this role.”
Charles “Chip” Corder will begin as Redmond’s finance director on July 1, 2021. He comes to the City with over 15 years of executive-level experience in city and financial management in Washington state. His previous finance-related positions include 14 years as finance director for the City of Mercer Island and 10 years as financial planning manager, senior financial analyst, and financial analyst for the City of Kirkland. Corder has an extensive track record of developing operational and capital financial plans, improving business processes, measuring organizational performance, and navigating through times of fiscal stress. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University.
