RPD's Virtual Community Police Academy begins April 8

Police News Release

Join our virtual Community Police Academy for an inside look at the Redmond Police Department.

March 15, 2021

REDMOND, Wash. - The Redmond Police Department is excited to announce we’re hosting a virtual version of one of our favorite programs, the Community Police Academy. The 7-week program will give our community insight into the culture, procedures, training and values of the department and an up-close look at what we do.

Some class topics will include patrol procedures, our Mental Health Professional program, traffic operations, use of force, the anatomy of an arrest, implicit bias training, and court procedures.

Participants will be able to ask candid questions of our officers and professional employees and we encourage anyone who is curious about police work and how we serve our community to apply!

This class is usually held in person at the police department, but due to COVID-19 restrictions this year it will be hosted via Microsoft Teams meetings. Our team is dedicated to make this an engaging, informative and interactive class for all participants.

The Community Police Academy will be on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. from April 8 to May 20, 2021.

For more information about the course and how to apply visit our Community Police Academy webpage or email crimeprevention@redmond.gov.
