Press Release: City Aware of State Auditor’s Office (SAO) Data Breach

Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond is aware of and reviewing information related to the Washington State Auditor’s Office (SAO) data breach involving Accellion, a third-party provider used by the auditor’s office for hosting file transfer services. Personal information may have been exposed related to residents who filed for unemployment in 2020 and information related to state and local government agencies.

The City of Redmond is working closely with the SAO to determine the extent of the breach and if any of the City’s information was compromised. The auditor’s office plans to notify those individuals whose information is at risk as soon as possible and has set up a webpage to provide the latest information on the breach at https://sao.wa.gov/breach2021/.
