Redmond, WA – On Monday September 16, The Today Show and Money Magazine announced the annual list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America (for cities with populations of 50,000 – 300,000). Redmond ranked twelfth in the nation. The only other Washington State city to rank in the top one hundred was Lacey, at number 75. The raters look for cities with the optimal combination of economic strength, quality health care, low crime, great schools, and a great variety of recreation opportunities.

“Redmond is a vibrant community with a dynamic economy that is rich in culture, art, and natural beauty. We have worked proactively as a community for many years to set priorities and plan for future growth. Those priorities chosen by the community have guided Redmond for over a decade and contributed to the outstanding quality of life here,” said Mayor John Marchione.

When ranking Redmond, Money Magazine cited excellent schools, an abundance of options for dining and shopping, and a strong local economy. The ranking also emphasizes Redmond’s location as a tranquil getaway with relatively easy access to Seattle. Redmond’s annual summer festival, Derby Days, also received a shout-out for bringing Redmond residents together.
