Redmond, WA – Welcoming Week is a nationwide celebration of our country’s diverse cultures. The City will host several events that celebrate diversity and encourage connectivity and dialogue between September 13 through 22, 2019. All events are free and open to everyone, but some require registration.

On Tuesday, September 3 Mayor John Marchione, along with mayors of Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, and Sammamish issued a joint proclamation supporting Welcoming Week across the Eastside. They joined hundreds of other jurisdictions across the nation celebrating the contributions of all residents to the health, vitality and prosperity of our local communities.

“Redmond is proud of its diverse and connected community,” said Mayor John Marchione. “The City works toward the vision of a Redmond in which all residents can fully and effectively access City services, influence City policy and direction, and feel a sense of belonging and safety. Cultural inclusion is one of our key City priorities. Celebrating Welcoming Week together is an important step towards helping all residents feel welcome and a part of this vibrant community.”

The City of Redmond is committed to be a leader in promoting a welcoming community through its cultural inclusion initiative. Learn more about the City’s cultural inclusion initiative, Welcoming Redmond online at Redmond.gov/WelcomingRedmond.
