Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond premieres a redesigned website. The new and improved site was developed based on current best practices and two years of community involvement and stakeholder feedback.

User experience enhancements include a new and modern look, mobile responsiveness, better search functionality, improved navigation, more concise content, and automated translation services. Local photography incorporated within the design highlights the unique, vibrant and diverse Redmond community.

“Collaboration with the community was an important part of this project,” said Mayor John Marchione. “Together, we were able to achieve a more welcoming and user-friendly online experience. I want to thank everyone who helped in this process.”

“The input we received from the community through focus groups, polls, and user testing is reflected in the new redmond.gov website,” said Lisa Maher, Redmond’s Communications and Marketing Manager. “Community involvement was incorporated throughout the two-year project and significantly drove the direction of the new website design and user experience.”

The new website also provides a more digitally inclusive experience for users. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 38.5% of Redmond residents are foreign born and 43.2% of residents speak a language other than English at home. The new design enables an automated Google translation toolbar for easier access to information in other languages.

City of Redmond staff began the website build process in the fall of 2018 and worked over the next several months to refine content, reduce the number of pages, and drastically increase searchability. Through designing the new site using industry best practices and conducting detailed user testing, Redmond also improved navigation for users. The website will continue to undergo improvements based on user feedback received.
