Redmond Storm Response

We are continuing to respond to the ongoing needs of the community from the consecutive snow storms that have hit our region. I want to assure you that our highest priority is you and the safety of your family. City staff has been working around the clock to prepare and respond to this event, and we will continue to work as long as needed to keep the community safe. Here is an update on some of our priority response efforts:

Snow and Ice Response

Our snow and ice response teams continue to operate in 12-hour shifts. We have seven plows, including five salt dispensing units and two deicing units in addition to a deicing truck. Our response fleet is running 24 hours a day. The priority of roadways serviced is based on the following: emergency vehicles and hospitals, arterials in and out of Redmond, arterials on hills and then all other roadways. For more information visit www.redmond.gov/snowice.

Warming Station

The City Hall lobby is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the community is invited to use the area to warm up, charge mobile devices, access land lines, make phone calls, and enjoy warm beverages. Parking is available in the City Hall parking lot or the parking garage. For additional shelter information visit www.redmond.gov/shelters.

Debris in Roadway

Now that the storm has subsided, we are seeing an increase in downed limbs and powerlines due to the weight of the snow. If you see a downed power line or tree on a roadway, please call 9-1-1 to report the issue. For all non-emergency questions, please submit your request via the “Your Redmond” app or on our Service Request webpage.

Waste Management

We are partnering with Waste Management to create drop off locations for those residents who have had missed pickups. The drop off locations will open once roadways are safe to travel. Waste Management will call all affected individuals and let them know once the drop off locations are open. Only household garbage and recycling that would have fit in your carts for two weeks will be accepted. For more information visit www.wmnorthwest.com/weatherboard.

We continue to ask you to stay off the roads as much as possible. Please check on your neighbors, keep sidewalks and walkways clear and help remove debris from storm drains to avoid localized flooding. For additional updates, visit Redmond.gov or follow us on Facebook or Twitter (@CityofRedmond). Stay safe and warm and once again, thank you for all your support and patience.

Sincerely,

Mayor
