Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond’s art classes and camps have undergone a strategic refresh to better align with community needs and the Arts & Culture Commission and City Comprehensive Plan goals. The revised program is now called Redmond Arts Studio, which will offer camps this summer at Anderson Park and in the renovated Grass Lawn Park pavilion. The Grass Lawn Park pavilion was renovated to replace arts space at the former Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center and officially opened yesterday for programming.

For years, the Redmond Clay Studio at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center had been the first step in ceramic education for hundreds of children, teens, and adults. Now, the Redmond Arts Studio will promote visual arts education and enrichment through classes that encourage exploration and innovation in a variety of media and skill levels at locations across the city. In addition to clay camps and classes, the program is expanded into arts and crafts and quality 2-D visual arts.

Redmond Arts Studio summer camps are still open for registration. There is a new option to “Make A Day of It” by selecting half-day Arts and Tennis Camps taking place at Grass Lawn Park that can be combined to create a customized full-day experience. Additional Redmond Arts Studio camps are offered at Anderson Park including an animal art camp with visits from animal friends from Farrel McWhirter Farm Park. Fall and winter seasons will offer additional arts programming for adults such as workshops and open studio hours. More information about the 2018 Annual Camp Guide can be found at www.redmond.gov/summercamps.
