Redmond, WA – The
City of Redmond is hosting a National Trails Day Work Party on Saturday, June 2
from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Ashford Trail, located South of Hartman Park.
Each
year people across the country set out on trails in celebration of the American
Hiking Society's National Trails Day®. This year, in honor of the 50th
anniversary of the National Trail System, the American Hiking Society has set a
goal to improve 2,802 miles of trail—the distance across the US. In joining the effort on National Trails Day®, the City
of Redmond will bring community volunteers together at Ashford Trail to help by
raking, spreading gravel and clearing vegetation. Ashford Trail is a quarter
mile soft surface hiking trail linking Hartman Park with Avondale Road through
the Ashford Park development along 180 Ave NE.
“National
Trails Day is a great opportunity to explore new trails in the community, meet
new people, and volunteer outside with your family and friends,” said Carolyn
Hope, Park Planning and Cultural Arts Manager at the City of Redmond.
Everyone
is welcome to join the volunteer work party. Work gloves and tools will be
provided. For more information on the National Trails Day event, visit www.americanhiking.org/national-trails-day.
